Joint Venture by Greyall Joint Venture by Greyall
A banner for a Warhammer/40K Italian fan fiction website, Locanda delle due Lune . Super nice guys, and I had a lot of fun drawing this, even if dwarfs are news to me. Still, I like it.

Have a big, big project coming up. Like, A3 paper-big =)

I love it. When I was at school I played BloodBowl a lot and Dwarves were always my fave players. So its nice to see them back, especially in a 40k scenario. Good work fella. :)

Damn XD , maybe need an explanation. the site title is "La Locanda delle Due Lune" = "The Inn of the Two Moons" (because we translate for warhammer fantasy and 40k) and then the drawing is this.

It actually didn't take that long, any of those characters is fun to draw, so that tends to speed things up.

3 days takes me to create a great art work with normal A4 paper and with shading, on speed...3 hours with a pen :D.

Hi everyone, I'm one of the staff member of the italian site "La locanda delle due lune". For us was an honor to have known Greyall, his style is unique, as well as its details that perfectly reflect the game atmosphere. Greyall has been helpful, friendly and industrious ... the entire site gives his thanks to him and his artwork will be the cover of the new site under construction.
We translate, create and laying out unofficial Wharmmar (fantasy and 40k) RPG documents for all italians fans (because the official publishing house probably will stop translanting from english to intalian) .
the entire staff hopes for an long lasting collaboration with Grayall as art reviewer (with a personal topic section in English)

What a wondrous piece of joyous mind-screwing heresy!
Somekind similar to US postage stamp, 1945 issue, commemorating Battle of Iwo Jima.

Kinda hoping that GW will produce a 40k Dwarf, I think it'd fill some holes in the fluff and make the fluff a bit more... hopeful?

Well, they had the squats and, from what little I know, they were indeed a ray of sunshine in the bleak 40K universe. Then they had them eaten by Tyranids...

I always thought of Squats as pseudo-dwarves sense (at least according to wikipedia) they were just humans that colonized high gravity planets.
In the web-comic they are clearly dwarves from Terra (they had a Book of Grudges) and I liked that better just... cause.
And by hopeful I was referring to the fact that the space marines are using technology that on a whole they can't reproduce (at least that's how I see it). Like the geneseed's, it may take a few millenium but eventually all those are going to get smashed...
Then I remember the dwarves of ancient Terra and their engineering skills. If they didn't go extinct and actually developed next to humans, the dwarves could be the intellects behind the creations of the Dark Age of Technology.
If they came "back" then suddenly the Space Marines could reproduce much of their gear that previously they had a limited number of. Essentially they'd cease to be working on borrowed time and actually progress.
But those are just my fan based ramblings....

That rings true, actually. Plus, seeing as the 41st millenium is drawing to a close, Astartes could use all the help available.

Exactly, and I'm interested to see what they'd do with 40k dwarves, what we say in the webcomic was awesome!

Haha... Poor, poor, Squats... all eaten by the Nids just because GW got too lazy to write for them...

Anyway, I think you did a great job on the 'dwarf' and the position of the striking scorpion. And of course, I don't need to comment anything on the SM... xD

And woah... A3 paper! That's pretty damn big...

I like the 'renaissance' feel of SM's armor, these little ornaments and slightly curved lines make it look somehow elegant.

It is the dwarf however that mostly catches the eye (even though you screwed the banner-holding hand - just to be honest...). Despite heavy musculature his proportions are toned, you've found a great niche somewhere between 'spherical' dwarfs of GW's Warhammer Fantasy and freakish, square muscled, square faced dwarfs of Warcraft universe. There's also nice balance between the detail of his weapon-armor-beard areas and exposed skin.

I really wouldn't mind seeing you doing some Warhammer Fantasy stuff once for a while along 40k.

I love drawing 'squarish' characters, that's why I love WoW orcs so much, they're muscular as hell. Well, but then so are Warhammers' =p

You've got a point about the hand, I had a very hard time drawing those, what with the flag being slightly tipped.

Thanks, man =)

P.s. Is this fanfic is good? And what is it all about? Is it some kind of alternative timeline or distant future?

I recognized him as a Warhammer Dwarf, but so I immediately converted it to the 40K equivalent in my mind because of the other two characters.
Dwarves are so underrated.
